In the morning you will drive to Naivasha, the 2nd Rift Valley Lake on your tour, where you will be taken to Crescent Island. The tour usually takes 2 hours and you can explore both the lake and the island with all the birds and animals. Once you arrive at the island, you will meet the guide near the pier. Your guide will show you the best animals: giraffes, hippos, Grant's gazelles, the fox and maybe even the rare pythons. After your time on the island, return by boat to the mainland from where your guide will drive you further into the Rift Valley arriving at your lodge for lunch. Afternoon enjoy a relaxed stay with possibilities of an evening stroll within the lodge grounds

Dinner and overnight at Jacaranda Lake Elementaita Lodge.

Day 2
Lake Elementaita

Lake Elementaita (B, L, D)

The glorious “first light” at dawn is sure to captivate you as you enjoy an early morning cup of coffee on your private Veranda overlooking the hills, valleys, ridges of Soysambu and possibly the calm waters of Lake Elementaita. After breakfast take a short drive into the conservancy for a morning game drive and possibly of helping out with lion tracking and collaring for purposes of monitoring and research. Return to your lodge for lunch and preparation for the afternoon hike to "Sleeping Warrior", a hill that has the profile of a sleeping Maasai warrior. End your day with a much needed “Happy Valley” Sundowner. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at the Jacaranda Lake Elementaita Lodge.

Day 3
Lake Nakuru

Lake Nakuru National Park (B, L, D)

If you want, you can watch birds again at the early morning at the lakeside. After breakfast, we continue to Lake Nakuru National Park, where you will arrive at the Flamingo Hills Camp at noon. Check in and have lunch. In the afternoon you will be on a game drive. The Lake Nakuru National Park was created to protect the huge flamingo population. On the bank, waterbucks, Bohor-Reedbuck and zebras wander around grazing. Lake Nakuru is home to the black and white rhinoceros, In 1987 only two black rhinoceroses had remained because of devastating effects of poaching. By establishing a rhinoceros protected area within the park and crossing with a breeder from Laikipia, the Kenya Wildlife Service (K.W.S.) succeeded in multiplying rhinoceros successfully in the park. Wild observation is relatively easy and will be possible until sunset. Buffalo, Leopard, Lion, Rothschild giraffe, Colobus can be found in the forest. Dinner and overnight at Jacaranda Lake Elementaita Lodge.

Day 4
Lake Bogoria

Lake Bogoria (B, D)

Lake Bogoria National Reserves is 107 km² in size. Here you can find hot springs and geysers in the once wild and repellent landscape, which is permeated by dark lava rocks. Or you can observe the masses of flamingos at Lake Bogoria, which move in a row, while the head of the algae is beaked with the head down. There are also bee-eaters, kingfishers, rhino-birds and many other bird species among the feathered inhabitants. There are also some mammals, such as the large herds of the Great Kudus, an antelope that is otherwise very rare in East Africa, but also buffaloes, zebras, dik-diks, impalas, warthogs, sea cats and baboons. Accommodation

Lake Elementaita Lodge

Jacaranda Lake Elementaita Lodge was built in 1916, it was for many years the home of Lord Galbraith Cole and his wife, Lady Eleanor “Nell” Cole. Having landed in Kenya in 1903, Lord Galbraith had been preceded by his sister, Lady Florence Anne Cole, daughter of the Earl of Enniskillen, who had in 1899 married Hugh Cholmondeley, the third Baron Delamere. Around the house today, one can almost touch the colonial atmosphere and refined aristocratic taste of the man who built it: the terraces overlooking Lake Elementaita, the panelled walls, the internal courtyard and spacious living room, complete with a fireplace and a library. This elegant house was at the center of a 30,000 acre ranch that Lord Galbraith managed under very difficult circumstances plagued with drought, fires, rinderpest, East coast fever and himself suffering from chronic rheumatoid arthritis. The condition, which afflicted him from an early age, was to confine him to a wheelchair in 1927. By then he was totally frustrated and decided to end it all. He did it in style when one day in 1929 he asked his wife to load his revolver and take a long walk with their dogs, leaving him in the sprawling house with the Somali servant, who witnessed Lord Galbraith’s final gesture. Lord Galbraith’s brother Berkeley was an eccentric character who used to don a trademark Somali shawl, the type preferred by his close friend and fellow Etonian, Denys Finch Hatton, the man who became famous for being writer Karen Blixen’s lover.

Remarks

Lake Naivasha

In the 1940s when air travel first came to Kenya en route from England to South Africa, the four-engined Flying-Boats landed on Lake Naivasha and the foundations of the Terminal and Customs shed can still be seen today on Crescent Island. It was also pictured on Kenya postage stamps from 1949 to 1952. Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake, unlike Lakes Elementaita, Nakuru and Bogoria which are Soda. It lies at 6,200 feet above sea level. Crescent Island and the adjacent Lotus Island, home of a Yacht Club, form the rim of an extinct volcano protruding out of this Lake in the shadow of Mount Longonot, also an extinct volcano. The name Naivasha derives from the local Maasai name Nai’posha meaning “rough water”. The circumference of the Lake is about 80 km, the deepest part is within the Crescent at roughly 18 meters. It is known to have dried out twice since 1898 and is fed by two rivers, one being the Malewa whose source is in the Aberdares. It had one indigenous fish until 1929 when the Black Bass were introduced, followed by Tilapia in 1956 but Carp is now predominant.

Arnold Butler McDonell

The late Arnold Butler McDonell commonly referred to as AB among his friends traveled to Kenya in 1904. He was an avid farmer and an architect. In 1910, he bought 350 acres of land in Tigoni, a small town in Kiambu from the then British government and establishes some of the largest tea plantations in the small neighborhood. McDonnell went on to become Kenya’s and Africa’s first commercial tea farmer and the tea tradition for which the country is now famous. His farm, Kiambethu, has been hosting tea tours since the 1960s and McDonnell’s granddaughter, Fiona Vernon, has continued the tradition even though Kiambethu acreage has shrunk to 35 acres.
