SHELDRICK – GIRAFFE CENTER – KAREN BLIXEN & UTAMADUNI – DEPARTURE (B)
After breakfast, depart your hotel and drive across the city to the Southern sector. Start off with a visit to the giraffe centre – a wonderful and refreshing experience. The tour gives a completely up close and personal interaction where you have the opportunity to feed giraffes. Mid-morning drive to the nearby Daphne Sheldrick Orphanage and meet orphaned Elephants and at times Rhino that are being hand reared before being returned into the wild. Learn about the extra ordinary work that goes on, view the orphans with possibility to touch them when brought out to play and to feed, and visitors can watch them from behind a rope. Wardens are on hand to explain the work of the orphanage and to answer any questions. Drive over to Karen Blixen museum. Its history dates back to 1914, during the First World War, with the arrival of Karen Blixen from Denmark. After her departure in 1931, the suburbs retained the commemorative home of Karen. The Danish government donated the house, and the surrounding land to Kenya after independence. Enjoy lunch at the Karen Blixen Coffee garden – on own cost – before visiting the Utamaduni for some shopping possibilities. Afterwards, you are transferred back to the airport.
