Day 1 - Mexico City

HISTORICAL CITY CENTRE (D)

Your first day in Mexico starts with a guided walking tour through the historic city centre, the nucleus of one of the largest cities in the world. Starting from the city’s main square, the area of the historic quarter covers an area of 9 sq. kms and has over a thousand historically important sites. The Aztec Temple Mayor, the National Palace and the Palacio de Bellas Artes are some of the highlights. After a full day of sightseeing you return to your hotel to freshen up. The finale of this eventful day is an exquisite Mexican dinner with live Mariachi music.

Day 2 - Mexico City

COYOACÁN - XOCHIMILCO - UNIVERSITY OF MEXICO (B)

Today you dive into the vibrant life of Mexico City and enjoy the variety that only a few other cities can offer. Coyoacán will sweep you off your feet with its colourful colonial style and refreshing spirit. It is well known for having been the domicile of Frida Kahlo, you will visit a typical market while you are in Coyoacán. In the afternoon you can see the pre-Columbian cultivation of flowers in the water, while you are driven on the trajineras (punts) through the watery canal gardens of Xochimilco. On your way back to the hotel you make a stop at the UNESCO awarded wall murals of the University of Mexico.

Day 3 - Mexico City

ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE OF TEOTIHUACÁN - BASILICA OF GUADALUPE (B, L)

This day highlights the archaeological site of Teotihuacán that is located at the outskirts of Mexico City. Your visit in the early morning gives you an understanding of the unbelievable monumental site with its secretive history. The whole extent of the site is best grasped if you climb up the stairs of the sun and/or moon pyramid. After the lunch break, you visit the Basilica of Guadalupe that was dedicated to the first Latin American indigenous virgin. At the end of this day you can either take you to the airport for your onward journey or to your hotel.
