Day 1 - Bukit Lawng

KUALA NAMU - BUKIT LAWANG

Arrival at Medan, Kuala Namu Airport, meet your english speaking guide, and transfer directly to Bukit Lawang. Arrive at Bukit Lawang, check in at the appointed lodge. Early afternoon on a short trekking you will explore one corner of the Leuser National Park with their native flora and fauna and will also have the possibility to see Orang Utans on their own habitat and other kind of animal such as Thomas leaf monkeys, long tail macaque, gibbon, black gibbon. Duration ca. 3 hours. Transfer back to your lodge.

Day 2 - Jamur Batu Bawah

BUKIT LAWANG - JAMUR BATU BAWAH (B, L, D)

Check out after breakfast and you will start hiking to reach the area of Tangkahan (ca. 6 hours). On this hike you will pass river banks and thick jungle until you finally reach your camp at an area called Jamur Batu Bawah near Sungai Landak River, joining the great Bahorok River.

Day 3 - Bahorok Riverside

JAMUR BATU BAWAH - ARAS PINANG  (B, L, D)

Breakfast near the river, you will continue to hike to Aras Pinang, passing small ravines, small rivers, and observing wildlife by the river banks. Usually mammals and birds are going to the area around the river in order to get enough water supply. (ca. 6 hours).

Day 4 - Sungai Kerapu Riverside

ARAS PINANG – KERAPU RIVER (B, L, D)

After breakfast you will start your hike to Sungai Kerapu (ca. 6 hours). Gunung Leuser National Park holds an important role for water cycle in both in Aceh and North Sumatra province. On the North Sumatra side, there is Sungai Wampu, Bahorok River, Sungai Kerapu and other small rivers originally coming from Gunung Leuser. Sungai Kerapu is a bigger river than Sungai Landak. You may swim, or walk, or fish in the river. Overnight at the temporary camp at Sungai Kerapu riverside.

Day 5 - Sungai Musam

SUNGAI KERAPU - SUNGAI MUSAM  (B, L, D)

Breakfast at the campsite, today you will have your last moderate walk (ca. 4.5 hours). This hike will take you to Sungai Musam. Some of the trails you walk through are close to the local people´s oil-palm plantations. Overnight at the temporary camp built near Sungai Musam.

Day 6 - Tangkahan

SUNGAI MUSAM - TANGKAHAN (B, L)

Breakfast at camp.Today is your last day in the jungle. You will hike to reach Tangkahan (ca. 5.5 hours). You will be passing through massive scale palm oil plantations and have a chance to see the local workers at work. Around midday arrival at Tangkahan and check in at your hotel.

Day 7 - Tangkahan

TANGKAHAN (B, L)

Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will see how wildlife and local villages live side by side. You will enjoy a ca.60 min. elephant ride and see how valuable they are, for helping human in the jungle and around huge river systems. On a tubing trip down the river you will see the jungle from another perspective. Return to your hotel, and leisure time. (No elephant ride Monday and Thursday.)

Day 8 - Medan

TANGKAHAN - MEDAN, KUALA NAMU AIRPORT (B)

Breakfast and Check Out. Transfer from Tangkahan to Medan, Kuala Namu Airport, passing through local villages, oil palm plantations and rubber plantations. Drop off a the airport and continuation of your journey.
