SIGIRIYA
NEGOMBO – SIGIRIYA (B, D)
Check out early after breakfast and proceed in private vehicle to the first stop of the tour, Sigiriya. This 5th century UNESCO heritage site besides being the most visited in the country, is celebrated for its imaginative urban planning. With a central rock rising 200 meters as the dominant feature, the 18 sq. km site comprises of caves, ancient frescos and gardens. On the way stop over at the Dambulla Cave Temple, the largest and best preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka located in a rock rising 160 meters.

ANURADHAPURA
SIGIRIYA – ANURADHAPURA – SIGIRIYA (B, D)
After early breakfast leave for the one and a half hour journey to Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s capital from the 4th century BCE to 11th century. The city which is a UNESCO heritage site boasts many Buddhist antiquities, manmade ancient reservoirs and palace complexes. It is also one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities of the world. On completion of tour get back to Sigiriya.

SIGIRIYA
SIGIRIYA – POLONNARUWA – MINNERIYA – SIGIRIYA (B, D)
After breakfast proceed to Polonnaruwa the capital of medieval Sri Lanka that is a little over an hour journey from Sigiriya. Picturesquely set by a large manmade reservoir this ancient city, also a UNESCO heritage site, offers a range of Buddhist and Hindu antiquities. Upon completion of tour embark on Minneriya National Park Jeep Safari. Set around a reservoir this is among the best places in the country to spot elephant herds. Transfer to hotel.

Take a break from touring and enjoy a visit to a typical dry zone village. Enjoy a boat ride across a reservoir or arrive in the village by bullock cart. Observe the lifestyles of typical rural folk in the area and share a meal with a farming family. Return to hotel and try a soothing Ayurveda spa treatment to relax.

After breakfast proceed to Kandy the last royal capital of the country in the central hills. Check into hotel upon arrival. In the afternoon embark on a city tour and conclude it by visiting the Temple of the Tooth located in the former royal palace complex. Attend a cultural performance by over 100 exponents of Kandyan dance forms and music.

Breakfast at hotel & spend the day at leisure. The Peradeniya botanic gardens just 6 km from Kandy with its amazing collection of tropical flora and the Ceylon Tea Museum located in a 1920s tea factory in Hantane are among the sightseeing options to consider.

Check out after breakfast & proceed to Colombo. Enjoy a city tour including a walk in the oldest parts of town the Fort and Pettah areas. Walk among colonial buildings from the 18th to the early 20th century and enjoy the special ambience here. Grab a snack from a restaurant at the 17th century Dutch Hospital shopping precinct in Fort and shop for local handloom fabrics, jewellery and handicrafts. Check into hotel.

Enjoy free time in Colombo. The city has some excellent malls where it is possible to purchase jewellery, handicrafts, tea and spices among other things and to grab a bite. Try out a rooftop bar for the best views and sunset cocktails.
