PHNOM PENH
PHNOM PENH: CITY TOUR (B, L)
After breakfast set off to explore Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s largest and most populous city. Start off with some of the reminders of Cambodia’s painful past. Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, once the Khmer Rouge Security Prison 21 and Choeung Ek or killing fields where atrocities took place between 1975 and 1979. After lunch visit pleasanter surroundings such as the 19th century royal palace in a charming riverside location. As it is the residence of the royal family only the throne room, public areas, part of the garden and the Silver Pagoda are open for viewing. The Silver Pagoda is a complex of stupas, shrines and monuments and the private temple of the royal family. End the tour at the National Museum of Cambodia that has the world’s largest collection of Khmer art and artefacts. Get an insight into the country’s history and culture through the 13,000 objects on display.

ANGKOR WAT
PHNOM PENH – SIEM REAP – ANGKOR WAT (B)
After breakfast get on the morning flight to Siem Reap, the gateway to the Angkor region. Transfer to the hotel on arrival. In the afternoon visit Angkor Wat, the centrepiece of the Angkor UNESCO World Heritage Site. The magnificent setting, the architecture and thousands of feet of wall carvings of scenes from Hindu mythology will not fail to impress. Climb to the top of the Bakan tower the tallest tower of the temple. The views are phenomenal. Stay to see the sunset over the temple.

SIEM REAP
SIEM REAP: BANTEAY SREI – TA PROHM – ANGKOR THOM (B)
Grab an early start to visit some of the prominent temples in the Angkor Archaeological Complex. This is best done by tuk-tuk to take in the surrounding scenery up close and navigate the narrow dirt roads. Start with Ta Prohm. Unlike the other temples it remains as it was when it was discovered, with trees growing out of it and surrounded by jungle. Plenty of photo opportunities here. Move on to Preah Khan a 12th century temple that has also been left unrestored. After breakfast continue on to Angkor Thom the last capital of the Khmer empire. Covering 9 sq. km prominent antiquities here include the 12th century Bayon Temple with serene faces decorating its towers, the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. In the afternoon drive out to Banteay Srei Temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. Built in red sandstone it is covered in intricate carvings. Return to hotel.

SIEM REAP
SIEM REAP: KHMER VILLAGE – BENG MEALEA (B, L)
After breakfast set out for Beng Mealea 68 km from Siem Reap. Enjoy a scenic drive through rural areas and stop over at a Khmer village. Have interactive experiences by helping residents plant or harvest rice, fix a thatched roof or harvest bananas. After lunch at a rural household, set off for Beng Mealea. The temple built on similar lines as Angkor Wat has not withstood the ravages of time. Much of the structure has collapsed and adventurous visitors can pick their way over fallen masonry and sandstone blocks and dodge lianas.

SIEM REAP
SIEM REAP: TONLE SAP LAKE – FLOATING VILLAGE (B)
After breakfast take a tuk-tuk to Tonle Sap, the largest freshwater lake in South East Asia. Transfer to a boat at one of the many landing sites along the lake. Visit a floating settlement on stilts that is a self-sufficient community. Observe the unique life styles of the inhabitants. On the return journey stop over at the Old Market in the centre of town where the offering are wide and varied. There is also a food market at its heart. Return to hotel and transfer to the airport for flight home.
