About
an hour eastward of Sofia airport, the first encounter with the magic
of Bulgarian wines is at Villa Yustina Winery. After enjoying the
amazing scenery around the vineyards and exploring the winery, the
amiable hosts presents five exquisite wines. In the evening, Chateau
Todoroff, a short drive from Villa Yustina, will stage a notable wine
tasting session, followed by a dinner and time to rest for the new days’
adventures.

Plovdiv
PLOVIDV CITYTOUR – DRAGOMIR WINERY (B, D)
This second day takes you to Plovdiv – ancient and eternal, as the city slogan says, European Capital of Culture 2019! Your CityTour covers some of the most remarkable sites in town: Hindliyan’s House, Balabanov’s, the Roman Amphitheatre, the Ethnographic Museum and many more. The afternoon wine tasting session at Dragomir Winery unveils the dream of two Bulgarian enologists to enhance the image of Bulgarian wines as appealing, exciting, and diverse, with constant quality through the years. The days ends with some free time in the pedestrian zone of the city and a dinner in a local restaurant.

Stara Zagora Spa
PLOVDIV – ZAGREUS – STARA ZAGORA SPA (B, D)
The journey continues further eastward of Plovdiv to the Zagreus Winery. On own massifs of over 120 hectares the owners currently grow grape varieties such as Mavrud, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot. Yet, five different wines produced only from the unique Bulgarian sort Mavrud will make this wine tasting an exceptional experience for the senses. North-east of Zagreus, the road to the village of Mogilovo leads to Midalidare Winery where wine is produced exclusively from grapes of its own vineyards. The walk around the modern facilities is followed by the presentation of several exclusives wines.

STARA ZAGORA SPA – BANYA (B, D)
After a restful night, it is time for a new share of high quality wines. After elaborate analysis and soil tests in the micro-region of Elenovo village, Edoardo Miroglio found that the area of Elenovo is unique for Bulgaria and is equally good for cultivating both red and white grape varieties – Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Muscat Ottonel, Gewürztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc, Mavrud, Rubin, Melnik 55 and Bouquet. Later during the day, one of the most modern wineries in the region – Windy Hills, will open up its doors for a remarkable wine tasting session amidst its own vineyards. The overnight at Jrebchevo Dam will add a new perspective on the contemplations before the new day breaks full of adventures.

Gorno Pole Village
BANYA – HARMANLI – GORNO POLE VILLAGE (B, D)
Right after breakfast, the road leads to Bratanovi Winery, a small family cellar in the town of Harmanli, where several exquisite wines will be selected for the wine tasting session. A short drive eastward, Castra Rubra is next along the route – an impressive winery where several unique wines are presented. At the end of the day, the friendly owners of the Wild Farm guesthouse at Gorno Pole village will welcome you for a wonderful dinner made entirely of bio-products.

Momchilgrad
GORNO POLE VILLAGE – MEZZEK – ARMIRA – MOMCHILGRAD (B, D)
An early departure to the medieval fortress of Mezzek located in the village by the same name. The visit to ancient times is followed by a wine tasting sessions at Katarzyna Winery – one of the biggest wineries in Bulgaria, and at the charming family-owned cellar of Mezzek. Next stop along the route is the ancient Roman Villa Armira near Ivailovgrad, and, finally, a stopover for the night at Makaza Hotel in Momchilgrad.

Kavala
MOMCHILGRAD – FILIPPI - KAVALA (B, D)
The perfect location gives a jump-start for new adventures in Greece! The ride to Biblia Chora Winery near the town of Kavala will fell wonderful after the walking tour and wine tasting of fine local wines. The visit to the ancient town of Filippi will add to this wonderful experience before checking in at Villa Nickolas on the shore of the Aegean Sea.

KAVALA – DRAMA – SOFIA (B)
The last (unfortunately…) day of this trip starts with a visit and walking tour around the Wine Art Winery near the beautiful town of Drama – a selection of wines will help revitalize before the long transfer back to Sofia, where you catch your flight back home or onward flight.
