Siem Reap

SIEM REAP ANGKOR TOUR – TA PROHM – ANGKOR THOM – ANGKOR WAT (B, L)

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel the day starts with a visit to the jungle covered temple of Ta Prohm. This incredible site showcases both the beautiful temple and the majestic forest whose enormous fig trees and gigantic creepers strive to reclaim their territory. In the afternoon you visit the antique capital of Angkor Thom built in the 12th century. The South Gate with its huge statues is a reference to the myth of the Churning of the Sea of Milk. Continue with a visit to Bayon Temple, known for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara; the Phimeanakas, the Royal Enclosure, the Elephants Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. Proceed on to probably the most famous temple of the Angkor Complex: Angkor Wat. Extraordinarily beautiful, it was declared World Heritage Site in 1992. It features the longest, continuous bas-relief in the world which runs along the outer walls of the gallery and pictures stories out of the Hindu mythology. Transfer back to the hotel.

Day 3
Siem Reap

SIEM REAP - ROLOUS - KOMPUNG PLUK (ON BIKE) (B, L)

Leave the crowds behind and cycle towards the small village of Roulous, home to some of the oldest temples of the Angkor Complex. This beautiful 15km ride leads through rural Cambodia and offers plenty of opportunities to interact with local people. Once you get to Roulous, explore the three main temples: Lolei, Preah Ko and Bakong. After discovering their mystic ruins, continue to bike to the floating village of Kompong Phhluk. The submerged forest makes this tranquil place unique and a very special experience for its visitors. On the boat trip around the village, immerse into “the life on the water” and take a closer look at the massive trees breaking through the water surface. Car transfer back to Siem Reap.

Overnight: Siem Reap

Day 4
Homestay

TRANSFER TO HOMESTAY (L, D)

After breakfast at the hotel take a drive through green rice fields and picturesque little villages on the way to your homestay. At your destination let your guide introduce you to the family that you will be staying with, and here have time to explore the village on your own. A welcome lunch with the family will be served with time to rest afterwards. In the afternoon be taken to the rice fields in an oxcart where you will get to experience the hard labour of a Cambodian farmer yourself. After your return in the evening - again in an oxcart - you finish your day with a shower “farmers style”. Dinner with the family. Later on there is time to relax and chat to your host family about their culture. Don’t be shy when neighbours call over to meet you and ask you some questions about yours.
