HACIENDA - UXMAL

Start your day at an Hacienda (estate) where even today Sisal is produced. You learn interesting details about this important commercial sector that used to have its relevance in the pre-hispanic and colonial times and its heydey at the beginning of the 20th century. The tour through this lovely hacienda finalises with the refreshing bath in a cenote. You also enter and visit another historically very important and remarkable Mayan site, Uxmal, whose name stands for the "three times build“. In the archaeological zone you can experience the Puuc-Style and the very well-decorated governor's palace

Day 2 - Mérida

ÉRIDA - CHICHÉN ITZÁ

Enjoy in the morning the vivid city of Mérida. In Mérida you can experience the fusion of indigenous culture and European influence from the colonial period and the time of the big landowners. The city tour takes you to the governor's palace, the oldest cathedral of Mexico and the former residence of the founder of the city, Francisco Montejo. Chichén Itzá one of the seven new world wonders, famous because of the political importance in the Mayan times as well as the impressive construction style, for instance of the pyramid Kukulkán. Refresh yourself with a bath in a cenote, one of the 2000 registered limestone caves on the Yucatan peninsula. For the Mayans those cenotes were said to be the access to the underworld.

Day 3 - Mérida

MAYA COMMUNITY

Visit a local Maya Community where you get a class of the particular kind namely in Mayan hieroglyphs. You learn today how to write your name, make the famous tortillas and can attend a workshop about the basics of the Mayan Mathematics. This day of true and original Mayan experience is closed with returning to your hotel or driving to the airport for your home fly/onward fly.
