Day 1 - Santa Rita

MAYAN COMMUNITY AND CAVE SANTA RITA

Visit a local Maya Community where you get a class of a particular kind namely in Mayan hieroglyphs. You learn today how to write your name, make the famous tortillas and can attend a workshop about the basics of the Mayan Mathematics. This true Mayan experience continues with the visit of an indescribable cenote, that was considered by the Mayans the access to the underworld and on whose walls you can find according to archaeologists the handprint of the former Mayans. An unforgettable experience!

Day 2 - Izamal

CHICHÉN ITZÁ - CENOTE - IZAMAL

Chichén Itzá one of the seven new world wonders, famous because of the political importance in the Mayan times as well as the impressive construction style, for instance of the pyramid Kukulkán. Refresh yourself with a bath in a cenote, one of the 2000 registered limestone caves on the Yucatan peninsula. In the "yellow-city“ Izamal, you enter the extensive Franciscan Monastery „Ex Convento San Antonio“ with the world’s second largest closed atrium after the St. Peter's Square in Vatican City.

Day 3 - Uxmal

HACIENDA - UXMAL

After breakfast, you are expected on an Hacienda (estate) where even today Sisal is produced. You learn interesting details about this important commercial sector that used to have its relevance in the prehispanic and colonial times and its heyday at the beginning of the 20th century. The tour through this lovely hacienda finalises with the refreshing bath in a cenote. You also enter and visit another historically very important and remarkable Mayan site, Uxmal, whose name stands for the „three times build“. In the archaeological zone you can experience the Puuc-Style and the very well-decorated governor's palace.

Day 4 - Mérida

MÉRIDA - VALLADOLID

Enjoy the vivid city of Mérida. In Mérida you can experience the fusion of indigenous culture and European influence from the colonial period and the time of the big landowners. The city tour takes you to the governor's palace, the oldest cathedral of Mexico and the former residence of the founder of the city, Francisco Montejo. On the way back, you can also get the chance to make a mayapan tasting.
